The third generation of the KTM Duke 250 is soon to be launched in Nepal. The second generation Duke 250 was one of the most successful 250cc naked sports bikes in the segment for the powerful performance and design it gave. The third-gen 250 has new looks, updated design, features and performance.
The market for the naked sports bike segment is growing ever so in Nepal. Fully faired bikes of higher engine capacity are still not getting the market that well in Nepal due to the higher price and maintenance cost. But naked sports bikes from 150cc to 400cc are well-loved in Nepal. The 2024 KTM Duke in its segment will compete against the Bajaj Dominar 250, Husqvarna Svartpilen 250, Vitpilen 250 and the CFMoto NK 250.
Let us see what the naked sports bike delivers in terms of specs.

The design of the 2024 KTM Duke 250 is updated. From the previous gen Duke, it has a more bulkier and aggressive naked styling. It shares the design language similar to the latest KTM 390 and the KTM 125. The front includes an aggressive-looking LED headlamp with DRLs. The LED indicators are situated just above the headlights.
Coming to the side, it has a proper naked styling with sharp visible air-intakes and frame. The exhaust is changed to an underbelly styling which makes it look more raw from the sides. The metal tank has extended shrouds which help in aero dynamics and styling. The graphics are not stickers but rather paint-injected plastics which gives longevity. The alloy wheels are similar to those of the KTM Duke 390 which are lighter in weight.
The rear of the Duke 250 has integrated taillights and indicators. It does not have a separate taillight, rather the LED indicators work both as a taillight, brake light and indicators.
The KTM Duke 250 has enhanced comfort for both the rider and passenger, with thicker seat foam and improved ergonomics. The seat height can be adjusted easily to 820 mm for added comfort. Its narrower profile and better frame geometry contribute to improved cornering, stability, and handling. With lightweight footpeg hangers and grippy footpegs, riders experience uninterrupted grip, especially during gear shifts.
It now has a new 5″ LCD dashboard and a new switch cube featuring 4-way menu switches for easy access to vehicle functions, including smartphone connectivity. It has built-in connectivity features, such as music, taking calls, and navigating with Turn-by-Turn directions, making it easy to stay connected and informed while on the road. Other than that it displays information like the speed, rpm, ABS on/off, gear position, date and trip meter.
Performance
The 2024 KTM Duke 250 is powered by a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled 249cc engine, delivering 23 kW of maximum power and 25 Nm of torque. Its 61.17mm stroke and 72mm bore dimensions ensure a balanced performance.
It is equipped with a PASC anti-hopping clutch and Bosch EMS with RBW which helps in control and smooth gear shifts. The wet sump lubrication system ensures optimal engine performance.
The 2024 KTM Duke 250 features a steel trellis frame, powder coated for durability. Suspension travel measures 150 mm both at the front and rear, providing a comfortable and controlled ride over various terrains. The front suspension is handled by WP APEX 43, while the rear suspension features a WP APEX monoshock, ensuring stability and handling.
Braking is facilitated by a four-piston radial fixed calliper at the front, gripping a 320 mm brake disc, and a two-piston floating calliper at the rear, paired with a 240 mm brake disc. It rolls on tyres with sizes 110/70-R17 at the front and 150/60-R17 at the rear.
For safety, the Duke 250 is equipped with Bosch 10 MB Two Channel ABS, which can be disengaged as needed. It utilizes a 520 X-Ring chain for efficient power transmission, ensuring smooth acceleration.
