T20I Series: Nepal beats PNG by 85 runs to enter final

Nepal has entered the final by defeating Papua New Guinea (PNG) by 85 runs at the T20I tri-series held the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok, Hong Kong on Tuesday.

PNG was bowled out for 113 runs in 16.1 overs while the latter was chasing the 199-run target.

With this Nepal entered the final with two points while PNG has no points. Earlier on Sunday, the match between Nepal and home team Hong Kong was canceled and shared one point each after the rain played a spoilsport.

PNG will take on Hong Kong in the final league stage match later today. The final match will take place on Wednesday.

Kushal Bhurtel took the highest four wickets giving away 12 runs in four overs followed by Pratis GC with two wickets while Aakash Chand and Gulsan Jha grabbed one wicket each to restrict PNG to low runs.

Hiri Hiri made the highest 28 runs followed by Sese Bau with 21 runs while Tony Ura contributed 13 runs. The other batsmen could not achieve significant runs.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Nepal notched up 198 runs losing six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Kushal Bhurtel topped the score with 58 runs including four fours and four sixes off 39 balls followed by Sundeep Jora with 56 runs while Binod Bhandari contributed 27 runs.

Similarly, Bibek Yadav hit 19 runs while Gulsan Jha and Lokesh Bam made 15 and 14 runs, respectively.

In reply, Assad Vala took two wickets while Nosaina Pokana, John Kariko and Norman Vanua claimed one wicket each.
