Cabinet decides to approve ADB’s 300 million USD concessional loan

The government has decided to accept 300 million US Dollars in concessional loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as project assistance to run the Subregional Transport Enhancement Project.

A meeting of the council of ministers held on Tuesday also decided to accept 50 million USD loan assistance to be received from the ADB for budget assistance under the Customs and Logistic Improvement Programme, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma said.

According to the ADB, the programme is expected to help implement the current Customs Reform and Modernization Plan by improving customs processes through the introduction of digital technologies including electronic payments of customs duties and fees, and electronic submission of export documents.

Similarly, the cabinet meeting has approved the MCA-Nepal to acquire land for power transmission line and substation in Sindhupalchowk, Palpa and Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Sustapurba) districts.

Minister Sharma also stated that the government has issued an order to remove difficulties to extend the term of Commission on Enforced Disappearance and Commission on Truth and Reconciliation Commission-2080 BS.

Likewise, the government has given its nod to remove the settlements and huts along Rudhikhola-Bhainse road section of Mid-Hill Highway in Kaski district.

The cabinet meeting also approved the participation of State Minister for Education, Science and Technology Pramila Kumari at a programme related to education to be held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The government has also promoted Joint Secretary Ghanashyam Upadhyaya to the post of Secretary while decision to transfer some joint-secretaries of the Law Group has also taken place.
