Swiss couple donate to school for landslide control

A support of Rs.1.5 million has been received from a Swiss couple for the prevention of landslides in the Nispaksha secondary school located in Machhapuchchhe rural municipality-5 of Kaski district.

Martin Singer and Kussi from Switzerland sent the amount after the school was endangered by landslides following incessant rains in June last year.

At a function held on Friday, Eric, a Swiss citizen, handed over the cheque to the Principal of the school, Durga Bahadur Rawat. The Swiss business couple had visited the school with Eric last May.

The provincial government had allocated a budget of Rs. 500,000 last fiscal year for securing the school from landslides. It is estimated that Rs. 3.5 million will be spent for the work.
